Eldon Delivers for Red Eléctrica Española (REE)
Red Eléctrica Española, owner of the Spanish power grid and the first company in the world devoted exclusively to electricity transmission and operation, has approved and is currently using Eldon’s MCS enclosures to house the control systems in its Madrid Power Control Centre and in substations across Spain.

From the Madrid facility, Red Eléctrica Española employs a 13,000 km network of fiber optic cable to control the flow of electricity throughout Spain. Based on fluctuations in demand, Red Eléctrica Española can utilize its network of substations to route power to anywhere in the country.
“We are very proud to have been selected as an approved supplier by Red Eléctrica,” said Julian de la Cuesta, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Eldon. “The certification process is necessarily rigorous as the Spanish power grid’s functioning depends on having high-quality, reliable components in place.”
Upon visiting Eldon’s factory in Spain, a member of Red Eléctrica’s Department of Engineering and Construction of Substations declared that, “Eldon's production process and system is up to Red Eléctrica's demanding specifications.”
The floor standing MCS enclosures used to house Red Eléctrica’s control systems feature glazed doors and swing frames. These systems remotely control substations in different parts of the country. The power components for these systems are mounted on the mounting plates while all control components are fitted on the swing frame. The glazed door enables Red Eléctrica’s employees to maintain visual contact with all elements inside the enclosure.
Eldon started the specification process at Red Eléctrica in 2002 and obtained the official certification two years later in 2004. Being a specified vendor means than all panel builders providing equipment to Red Eléctrica Española may use Eldon components.
