Eldon Launches E-Z Calc: An Easy-to-Use Downloadable Tool for Heating and Cooling Calculations
n keeping with its ongoing mission to become “The Company That’s Easy To Do Business With” Eldon is providing panel builders and installers with E-Z Calc, an easy-to-use, downloadable thermal management calculation tool.
Users can obtain the tool by simply clicking the “Products” tab on Eldon’s homepage and selecting “Thermal Management System.” On the right of the Thermal Management product page is a Download Calculation Tool button.
The Excel-based tool makes it simple to determine the amount of heating and/or cooling required by any enclosure.
Users first simply enter information about the enclosure, either it’s Eldon product designation or the type, dimensions and material of composition. Then they provide the program with information about the enclosure’s environment. For instance, the location it is mounted (i.e.) free all around, wall-mounted, etc., along with ambient and maximum operating temperature or voltage. Finally, users enter the minimum and maximum temperatures allowable inside the enclosure and the minimum and maximum temperatures anticipated outside the box.
In seconds, users will learn what type of cooling system —air conditioner, fan, filter fan, heat exchanger — is best for the enclosure situation they have described.
Eldon’s thermal calculation tool also directs users to the proper accessories to provide enclosure heating when it’s necessary.
“EZ Calc not only does the necessary math to determine precise heating and cooling requirements, it recommends the correct products for panel builders and installers,” said Pieter Dekker, Product Manager Enclosures, Eldon. “This can really save panel builders and installers time and effort.”
EZ-Calc also offers a sophisticated thermal dissipation calculation tool on the program’s second Excel tab. This program enables electrical engineers and system integrators who are designing complete systems to determine the precise amount of heat dissipated by various enclosure accessories, such as speed controllers, transformers, starters, or MCCBs.
