A compact and powerful option in Information and Communication Technology (ITC) rack cooling is now available from Eldon - the ventilation shelf. At only one inch in height, the shelf fits easily into any 19" ITC rack.
Eldon's new ventilation shelf offers outstanding benefits for communications professionals. First, Eldon's new shelf is extremely easy to install. Strictly plug and play, the unit requires no wiring. Second, because the ventilation shelf is designed to operate very quietly, it can be placed in close proximity to people working without becoming a nuisance.
"Because Eldon's ventilation shelf is plug and play, installation is extremely simple and cost-effective," said Wieger Westra, Senior Product Manager, Eldon. "Traditional roof fan units require expensive wiring performed by an electrician. This costs time and money. With Eldon's new ventilation shelfs, you simply connect the cables and you're ready to go."

Three models of Eldon's ventilation shelf are available. The most basic offers users a switch which turns the fans on and off. A second model employs a thermostat to control the operation of the fans. This means the fans are only running when they need to be, thus reducing power consumption and extending the unit's lifetime. A third choice incorporates an independent thermostat which has a digital display in the front.
Eldon's ventilation shelves can be configured with three, six or nine fan units. Also, all of Eldon's ventilation units are fuse protected.
Westra continued: "Our new ventilation racks are also extremely easy to use. For example, if a hotspot develops, one can simply move the electronic temperature sensor closer to the spot. Furthermore, unlike traditional roof fans, Eldon's ventilation units enable users to easily determine the enclosure's temperature - as it can be displayed on the front of the ventilation unit.
