ELDON ANNOUNCES CHANGE TO RAL7035
By R5 Project Manager, Paul Nightingale
The Eldon Group announced in July 2007, that we would be changing the colour of our industrial range of enclosures from RAL 7032 to "light grey" RAL 7035 on the 1st January 2008. This is due to pressure from the industry to unify colours, as their is no real benefit to continuing to offer two different colours into essentially the same market-place.
The other advantages of now switching to RAL 7035 (R5 for short) is that not only do we harmonize colours with the industry standard for Data & Telecom products, but also with our new Power & Distribution System (Eldon Power System) which we are launching later this year in R5.
Although the impact of changing the colour of floor standing enclosures is likely to cause less disruption than that of wall mounted enclosures, because they are more project driven, and therefore usually known about in advance of the project beginning, both colours will be available from stock in January and February 2008.
In preperation for the launch of R5 on the 1st January 2008, our factories are already producing enclosures in the new colour, and will continue to do so for the rest of this year, to make sure the transistion is as seemless as possible.
Only after the 1st of March 2008 will RAL 7032 become officially obsolete, and once stocks are exhausted, manufactured to order. Please consult your local Eldon Sales Office or Official Eldon Distributor for price and delivery of any RAL 7032 products after 1st March 2008.
Those products affected by this change are Multi-Mount, Multi-Flex, Power & Distribution, Consoles, Terminal Boxes and Thermal Management. To identify the new colour, we will add R5 to the end of the existing part number (including accessories). To help identify those products affected, you can download a complete list from the link below. The part number of those products already supplied in RAL 7035 (i.e. D&T) will not change. The outer packaging of all Multi-Mount wall mounting enclosures will carry a separate sticker with the R5 project logo, which will also appear on the part number label of all Multi-Flex floor standing products.
Existing orders for standard specials will still be supplied in the original colour, even after 1st January 2008; however the standard colour for new orders or repeat orders for standard specials will change to RAL 7035 from 1st January 2008.
We will continue to use the same high quality painting process as before. All Eldon mild steel enclosures are uniquely painted inside and out, using a structured powder coating of up to 80 microns, to ensure maximum protection against corrosion.
For further information regarding the change, please either contact your local Eldon Sales Office, Area Sales Manager or myself.
